Loughborough University

Established as the country’s first technological university in 1966, Loughborough university has developed a reputation for its teaching and research, and the strong links it has with industry and business. It is the largest single-site campus in the UK, has more than 16,500 students from over 100 different countries and employs more than 3,000 people. It is home to a unique range of sporting facilities that has over the years attracted top international athletes and coaches. The Students Union is, unusually, owned and managed by students.

Loughborough College

Loughborough college was established in 1909 and provides a bridge between school and higher education, offering its 11,000 students a range of courses including A-levels, vocational programmes, apprenticeships and degrees. Its courses have been developed to enable students to gain practical industry related skills and enhance their employment prospects. Subjects covered include accounting, beauty therapy, childcare, leisure and tourism, languages, engineering, hairdressing and teacher training.

Loughborough boasts a wide range of schools, including 14 primary, 12 academies, and four independent schools — Fairfield Preparatory School, Loughborough Grammar School (pictured), Our Lady’s Convent School and Loughborough High School. These four endowed schools, which collectively cater for ages 3-18, are situated on two neighbouring campuses on the south side of Loughborough adjacent to the A6 road. They share a single board of governors and enjoy a high reputation for academic, cultural and sporting achievements.
